ViVe’s update
I’m going to try to post things more regularly… Answer some questions… and keep you up to date!
First of all a big thanks to everyone who so far supported this site and my work via Patreon! Give me a week or so to set things up for the rewards! And thank you!
I’m in a good creative flow at the moment… of course you also profit from the fact I’m still short a job… Looking for openings and writing applications takes time, but of course not as much as working… so there are a lot of new files… I also seem to overflow with ideas…
It’s also quite fun… I could really imagine to live from making files… but although I get the suggestion quite regularly I’m completely unwilling to sell files… so in the end it’s probably a question how the Patreon thing works out… But let me use opportunity to ask you guys what rewards could inspire you to support this project? I mean besides lot’s of new files every month…
Quesions
I want to answer a few questions here that I get asked regularly…
I’ve got asked quite a few time about the creative process and how much time it takes to make a file… it’s hard to say as it varies a lot…
First there is the basic idea – some are pretty much straightforward like the “Hour of Silence”… It’s just figuring out how the effect works out… On the other hand there are files with a really complex story (the fantasy files)… and there files which are complex in the way they work… which have a complex idea… Both categories can take hours of thinking though I usually don’t do one big brainstorming but think about it again and again… letting the idea grow… revisiting it…
Then there are some files that need some experimenting with my guinea pigs… That can mean that I try ideas live or that the version of the file that is posted here might be second… or third.. or…
I don’t write scripts.. that saves a hell of a lot of time but on the other hand means the idea has to be really solid before I start recording…
Next there is the recording… It can also vary greatly… First of all you have to record a bit just to get “into character” before you start over and really record… of course I re-record when I notice that I stumbled over something… There is this stupid effect that the low trance voice is quite hard on your throat, so you might cough… or you have to sneeze… And there are neighbours who somehow know I’m recording and start up their lawnmowers or just have to excessively test the horn of their cars! Then there is the intro and of course the subliminal track… I’m getting better at the recording, but for time including subliminal (but not for files with exceptionally complex subliminals) – take the length of the “meat” (minus induction) and multiply it by five or six on a really good day… ten on a not so good day… If I have a good run (and there is no noise from the outside) I usually record multiple files (or bodies – the main part minus the induction and the intro and subliminals) at once… That’s why my files are released somewhat irregularly… I have multiple things recorded and when I do the mixing multiple files are released at once… followed by a time of no releases when I record)
Then there is the mixing of the file… It depends a bit on the size of the file – or in other words how long to wait for the computer processing things… the subliminals are very complex but I’ve gotten really good at it… so maybe an hour for mixing in average… a bit shorter for a short file (less waiting on the computer) and a bit longer for a long file…
Then it’s just writing a description, finding a good picture which can take surprisingly long, uploading, ect… Not my favourite part but as necessary as the rest…
Overall… I think 10 hours are a good average for a file… though this can of course vary a lot in both directions for an individual file!
